Ester Mazzoleni (Soprano) (Sebenico, Italy 1883 - Palermo, Sicily, Italy 1982)
First she wanted to become a painter. She studied in Trieste and Pisa and made her debut probably in 1902. After this performance she always appeared in famous Italian stages with great success. In 1908 she came to La Scala where she had big success as Isabella in A. Franchetti’s ‘’Cristoforo Colombo’’ and sang there till 1917. In 1908 she appeared at La Scala as Giulia in ‘’La Vestale’’ of Spontini, in 1909 in the title role of Cherubini’s ‘’'Medea’’. In 1908 she performed there in the premiere of the opera ‘’Paolo e Francesca’’ of L. Mancinelli. In 1913, during the first festival at the Arena of Verona, together with Giovanni Zenatello she appeared in G. Verdi’s ‘’Aida’’. In 1914 she performed at the Teatro San Carlo, Napoli as Valentina in ‘’Gli Ugonotti’’ of G. Meyerbeer.In 1923 she performed again in Verona, but this time in ‘’Norma’’. She had big success in Spain and South America, however, she also guested in Western Europe. In 1910 she appeared at the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires in G. Spontini’s ‘’La Vestale’’, in 1915 at the Teatro Dal Verme, Milan as Amelia in G. Verdi’s ‘’Un Ballo in Maschera’’. After finishing stage career she worked since 1926 as a pedagogue in Palermo.
