Eugenio Galli (Tenor) (Turin 1862 - 1910)
He began his career as baritone in 1887 in Teatro Politeama, Genoa singing the role of Count di Luna in ‘’Il Trovatore’’. He appeared at the same theatre also as Enrico in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’ and as Rigoletto in Verdi’s ‘’Rigoletto’’ together with famous soprano Emilia Corsi. He withdrew for a year from opera stages and made his debut as tenor at Carignano of Torino in the new opera ‘’Nestore’’ of R. Rasori. He performed in different italian opera stages with great success: as Alvaro in Verdi’s ‘’La Forza del Destino’’ (Faenza. 1889, Messina. 1890), as Manrico in Verdi’s ‘’Il Trovatore’’ (Padua. 1892, Genoa. 1894), as ‘’Otello’’ in Verd’s ‘’Otello’’ (Teatro Regio, Parma in 1895) and as Radames in Verdi’s ‘’Aida’’ (Teatro Politeama, Genoa in 1899). One of his best roles was Otello (Giuseppe Verdi). For the first time he sang the role of Otello at the Teatro Olimpo in Rosario di Santa Fæ (1894) and repeated this role in many big Italian opera houses. He was connected with the brazilian composer Carlos Gomes friendly and appeared in 1893 in his opera ‘’Condor’’ at the Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa with great success.
