Alessandro Rosanoff (Aleksandr Rozanov) (Tenor) (Moscow 1870? – 1912)
His real surname was Rozenof. He sang in a Chorus, then went to Milan to study with E. Brogi. Since 1895, Rosanov began to sing in Kiev, Kharkov (impresario Tsereteli), Tiflis (1899, 1900, 1902), Moscow (1899-1900, private opera, impresario Maksakova), Vilnius, Kazan (1901), St. Petersburg (at the Akvarium), Kiev (1903), Novgorod (1904), Saratov (1905/6, Russian opera, under control of Vronsky). From 1903 to 1905, he was a soloist of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre (here, he sang Sobinin, Gregori, German, Manrico, Jose, Raoul, and Turiddu). In 1905 Rosanov made his debut as Radames at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg; in 1908, he sang at the conservatory; in the 1909/10 season at the Moscow Sergievsky House; and from 1910 to 1912 at the Odessa Opera (impresario Bagrova). Guest appearances followed in Helsinki, Berlin (1907), Milano (2 seasons), Florence (one season), Genua (one season), Trieste (one season), Lisbon (1909, Teatro San Carlo), London, Buenos Aires (1909, Teatro Coliseo, Teatro Colon) and the USA. He possessed a pleasant and strong voice (tenore di forza). He was considered one of the best interpreters of the Wagner repertoire. He sang with Titta Ruffo, Hariclea Darclee and Mario Ancona.
