Gino Martinez-Patti (Tenor) (Parma 1866 – Rome 1925)
He was of spanish origins. Approximately from 1890 to 1910 he considered one of the leading heroic tenors in Italy. He appeared with success not only in Italy, but also in South America. In 1906 he travelled around North America with Lombardi Opera Company; during of this tour he created for America the role of Chopin in the opera ‘’Chopin’’ of Orefice and appeared also as Don Jose in ‘’Carmen’’ and as Rodolfo in ‘’La Boheme’’. In 1907 he sang at the Italian Opera in Holland; here he also performed as Herod in the premiere of the opera ‘’Salome’’ (Richard Strauss, in Italian) under the management of composer. He especially often appeared at the Opera Theatre of Bucharest as a guest. The audience very much loved his singing. He lived later in Rome.
