Salvatore Pollicino (Tenor) (Porto Empedocle 1884 - Palermo 1961)
He studied at Palermo with Nino Santoro and made his debut in 1915 at the Teatro Biondo in Palermo as Alfredo in "La Traviata". In the same season he also sang the role of The Duke in "Rigoletto". Pollicino sang in Malta, at the Royal Theatre in Valletta in the 1920-1921 season making his debut as Turiddu in "Cavalleria Rusticana". During this season in Malta he also sang the tenor roles in ‘’Carmen’’, ‘’Lohengrin’’, ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’, ‘’La Traviata’’ and ‘’Tosca’’. In 1924 he performed in "Madama Butterfly" at the Teatro Nuovo di Castiglione (Ravenna) In 1932 he performed in Milan, at the Teatro Carcano, "Cavalleria Rusticana" conducted by the author, Pietro Mascagni. The same year he sang the role of Folco in "Isabeau" in Sassari. In 1939 he inaugurated the RAI broadcastings in Palermo. He retired from the stage in 1942.
