Ida Giacomelli (Soprano)
Her stage debut took place in 1903 at the Teatro Bellini in Naples as Leonora in ‘’Il Trovatore’’. The next year, she sang several performances at the opera theatres of Rome (Teatro Quirino. Casilda in ‘’Ruy Blas’’, Teatro Manzoni. Leonora in ‘’Il Trovatore’’). In 1905 Giacomelli appeared at the Villa Mazzini in Messina as Leonora in ‘’La Forza del Destino’’. This was followed by appearances in Milan and Rome. In 1907 she was invited to tour South America and subsequently appeared in San Paolo, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Lisbon. In 1911 she performed in Bellini’s ‘’Norma’’ at the Teatro Regio in Parma. In 1914 Giacomelli made guest appearance in London appearing at the Teatro Coliseum, where she sang in Mascagni’s ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’.
