Luisa Garibaldi (Mezzo-Soprano) (Genova 1884 – Genova 1917)
Her real name was Luigia Garibaldi. She was a pupil of the baritone Vittorio Carpi in Florence. She made her debut as a concert singer in 1899 at Genova. There she appeared at first in concert performances, then there debuted in 1901 on the stage at the Teatro Paganini of Genova as Fenena in Verdi’s ‘’Nabucco’’. Engagments followed by the opera houses of Turin, Brescia, Milan and Rome. In 1905 she appearad at the Teatro Costanzi at Rome in the premiere of the opera ‘’La Cabrera’’ of Gabriel Dupont. In the 1906-07 season she sang there also in Wagner’s ‘’L'oro del Reno’’ and in the premiere of the opera ‘’La figlia di Jorio’’ of Franchetti. Guest appearances followed in the opera houses of Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo. In 1909 she sang at the Teatro San Carlo at Naples as Adalgisa in ‘’Norma’’ opposite Giannina Russ. In the 1912-1913 season he performed at La Scala, Milan in ‘’Cavalleria rusticana’’, ‘’Norma’’ and ‘’Nabucco’’. In 1913 together with Tina Poli Randaccio, Hipolito Lazaro and Carlo Galeffi, she sang at La Scala in the premiere of Mascagni’s ‘’La Parisina’’. Her last appearance happened at the Teatro Politeama Genovese in Genova, where she sang in Bellini’s ‘’Norma’’. RECORDING FOR SALE
