Cristy Solari (Tenor) (Smirne 1884 - Roma 1974)
He studied singing with Serafino Di Falco in Milan and made his debut in 1914 at the Teatro Andreani in Mantova as Arturo in ‘’I Puritani’’. Already the same year he appeared at La Scala in Milan as Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’. In 1916 Solari sang at the Politeama Chiarella in Turin in ‘’Rigoletto’’ and ‘’La Favorita’’. The next year, he guested in Parma performing at the Teatro Regio. After the First World War he developed the rest of his career primarily at Italian provincial stages (Bari, Catania, Cremona), then also in Turin (Teatro Regio) and Venice (Teatro Fenice). In 1927 Solari appeared at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa as Edgardo in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’ and as Pinkerton in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’. In 1926 he had big success at the Italian opera in Holland. In 1929 he made guest appearance in Buenos Aires (Teatro Colon) among other things in the premiere there of Giordano’s ‘’Il Re’’. In 1930 he sang again in Parma and Turin. That same year he geusted in Vienna where appeared as Pinkerton in Puccini’s ‘’Madama Butterfly’’. In the 1931-1932 season and in 1938 he was staying at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. At La Scala Solary again performed in 1937 as Nadir in Bizet’s ‘'I Pescatori di perle’’. He retired from the stage in 1946.
