Luigi Marini (Tenor) (Ascoli Piceno, Italy 1885 - Ascoli Piceno, Italy 1942)
He made his debut in 1908 at the Teatro Mariani of Ravenna in ‘’La Traviata’’. In 1909 at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo he appeared as Enzo in ‘’La Gioconda’’ of Ponchielli. In 1912 he had at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome a superb success as Hagenbach in '’’La Wally’’ of Catalani and as Rodolfo in Puccini’s ‘’La Boheme’’. He guested at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale in Cesena, Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Comunale in Bologna and in 1915 at La Scala as Enzo in ‘’La Gioconda’’. In 1922 he again appeared at La Scala this time as Rinuccio in Puccini’s ‘’Gianni Schicchi’’; in 1924 and 1925 he was very successful at La Scala as Andrea Chenier in Giordano’s opera ‘’Andrea Chenier’’. In 1917 he sang at the Municipal theatre of Zurich as Edgardo in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’ and as Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria rusticana’’. In 1930 he sang at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa as Walter in Catalani’s ‘’Loreley’’. In 1924 he guested in London appearing at Covent Garden as Rodolfo in ‘’La Bohæme’’. He had big success also at the Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon, at the Teatro Liceo Barcelona and in South American opera houses. He sang among other things also the role of gisth in ‘’Elektra’’ of Richard Strauss. In the middle of the 1930s he finished his career.
