Alberto Caffo (Tenor) (Bassano del Grappa 1877 - Milano 1931)
He studied with Orefice in Padua and Pollini in Milan. His stage debut took place at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele in Turin in 1903 as Alfredo in Verdi’s ‘’La Traviata’’. Then Caffo sang at the Teatro Comunale in Corfu (1905). He appeared also in Rome (Teatro Nazionale) and Milan (Teatro Dal Verme). During the First World War he was called up in 1917 for the Italian army and began his career again in 1919 performing at the Teatro Chiabrera of Savona. After he had been active during the 1920s as an interpreter of the heavier lyrical parts of the Italian opera primarily in provincial stages, he became a respected singing teacher. Piero Pauli, Augusta Oltrabella, Tullio Verona and the American soprano Marion Talley belong to his pupils among other things.
