Taurino Parvis (Baritone) (Turin 1879 - Barcelona 1957)
He studied in Milan with Vanni. Probably he made his debut in 1900 at the Teatro Lirico in Rio de Janeiro as Kyoto in ‘’Iris’’. In 1901 he sang at the Teatro Carignano in Turin as Marcello in Puccini’s ‘’La Boheme’’. Then appearances followed at the Teatro Nazionale in Bucharest and at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele, Turin (1902). From 1904 to 1906 he was a member of the Metropolitan opera, New York (beginning role: Enrico in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’). In 1908 he appeared at La Scala, Milan in the premiere of Mancinelli’s opera ‘’Paolo e Francesca’’. In 1917 he again sang at La Scala, Milan. Here he appeared together with Ninon Vallin in the premiære of Wolf-Ferrari’s opera ‘’Segreto di Susanna’’. In the 1926-27 season he performed once more at La Scala, Milan in the premiere of the opera ‘’Delitto e Castigo’’ of Arrigo Pedrollo. Already in 1920 he guested at the Teatro Nacional in Havana. During the 1920s Parvis with great success appeared at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. There he appeared in 1922 in the premiere of the opera ‘’Il Piccolo Marat’’ of Mascagni and in 1923 in ‘’I Compagnacci’’ of Primo Riccitelli. In 1925 he sang again at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome in the premiere of Zandonai’s opera ‘’I Cavalieri di Ekebu’’. In 1929 he gave up his career in and sat down in Turin as a lawyer. He was active later in Spain as representative of Italian film societies. In the second marriage he was married with the widow of the tenor and architect Peppino Rosselini (the mother of the composer Renzo Rosselini and the famous director Roberto Rosselini); from this marriage he had a daughter.
