Giovanni Voyer (Tenor) (Benicarlo, Valencia 1901 - Lisbon, Portugal 1976)
His real name was Juan Voyer. He studied in Milan and made his debut at the Teatro Sociale in Ostiglia as Pinkerton in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’. It happened in 1927. Between 1933 and 1948 he sang at La Scala in Milan (Tristan, Parsifal, Lohengrin, Tannhauser and Florestan). In 1933 he performed at Covent Garden in London in ‘’La dannazione di Faust’’ under T. Beecham. In 1938 he appeared at the Уpera de Roma in the premiere of ‘’La mujer sin sombra’’ of R. Strauss. In 1939 at the Teatro Comunale in Florence he sang in the premiere of the opera ‘’Re Lear’’ of V. Frazzi. After his retreat, in 1953, he taught singing at the Conservatory of Lisbon.
